Manner of Death (2020-2021) Plot and Synopsis
Forensic medical examiner Dr. Bun returns to the small town where he spent his high school years. Shaken by the suicide of a friend he loved very much, Dr. Bun finds himself in a larger conspiracy while trying to lift the veil of secrecy behind the incident. This death, which initially looks like a suicide, soon turns out to be a murder. Things get thoroughly complicated with the murder of a journalist trying to investigate the incident.
Tan, a mysterious and distant man, is both at the center of the events and begins to take a place in Dr. Bun’s heart. However, Tan’s true intentions are unclear. While Dr. Bun feels a strong attraction to him on one hand, he finds it difficult to trust him on the other. The secret affairs Tan conducts with his brother point to the powerful people behind the events. The murders are just a beginning.
Forensic expert Bun suspects that the death of Jane, a young teacher, is actually a murder even though it looks like a suicide. Crime, Politics, and Distrust
The tension of the series is not limited only to the secrets behind the murders. The distrust between the characters is also felt in every scene. The closer Dr. Bun gets to Tan, the more suspiciously he approaches him. This suspicion makes the relationship between the duo very eerie. You will feel this eeriness. Who is behind the murders? What does Tan know and why is he hiding everything? Two characters named Sorn and That will also be involved in the events, thus the series will become a bit more complex.
Manner of Death will offer you a story outside the subjects like “daily life, school romance” which are now clichés in BL series, this is very good. The fact that the series offers intense suspense and a detective story along with the Boys’ Love theme might be a bit heavy for “BL enthusiasts” who just want to see pure love. This production is especially not for the viewer who watches series for young and attractive actors. In my opinion, watching a series focused on “fans and actor ‘idols'” means something like watching anything of poor quality.
In Manner of Death, the emotional bond between the two men develops in the shadow of events and dangers. In this respect, love is not an ornament in the series, but actually a structure that helps to solve the mystery in the story. You should watch the series a bit from this perspective.
