Be My Favorite (2023), as a Thai BL series, explores the theme of time travel. Yes, I know it is a very cliché theme. Kawi travels to the past using the fantastic powers of a mysterious globe he received. In the past, he rewrites time to both save his future and find his love. I know there are dozens of time-travel-themed BLs. But Be My Favorite contains a bit more comedy; it’s entertaining. I enjoyed watching the series.
The series doesn’t just tell a romantic story; it also deals with deep emotions like regret, friendship, family, acceptance, and self-discovery. However, the time travel theme doesn’t go beyond the usual fantasy. Actually, this is not a sci-fi series, but a passionate youth BL production. For this reason, just go ahead and watch it.

Be My Favorite (2023) Plot and Synopsis
A Story Where Emotions and Time Travel Intertwine
Botkawee (Kawi) is an introverted but emotional young man. He harbors a platonic love for his classmate Pearmai. But things get complicated when he realizes that her heart already belongs to Pisaeng. Botkawee is burdened not only emotionally but also familially. His sick father, the uncertainties in his life, and his repressed feelings exhaust him.
Right at this point, the chance to reweave the threads of fate arises when he discovers that a musical globe he received as a gift can travel through time. On his journey to the future, he sees that Pear will marry Pisaeng, but the truly surprising fact is that Pisaeng is in love with him.
Given the chance to change the past, Botkawee will try to fix not only a romance but also all the other parameters in his life. However, messing with the past is not easy; every change brings a new branching path.

Returning to the past, Kawi makes an effort to get closer to Pear, but unexpectedly begins to spend more time with Pisaeng. Although their paths cross at first due to small coincidences and forced situations, Pisaeng’s honesty and patience will start to carve out an invisible space in Kawi’s world.
Kawi’s efforts to change the past begin to create a domino effect in both his friendships and his social circle. With every step Kawi takes to reach Pear, he realizes he is breaking Pisaeng and amplifying his own internal conflicts. Misunderstandings, jealousy, and the pressure created by the time loop bring relationships to a complex point.
No matter how much he changes time, seeing Pisaeng’s love reappear in every possibility, Kawi will finally learn to face his own feelings. Perhaps the best point I liked while watching the series was the theme of focusing on the present instead of changing the past.

Series Review and Comments
Time travel is not a new idea in BL series. But the difference in this series is that it handles it in a more emotional and dramatic framework. Themes like the acceptance of sexual identity, repressed feelings, past regrets, and anxiety about the future are handled very well. We don’t necessarily need to turn back time to love and be ourselves.
Especially Pisaeng confessing his love and Botkawee’s effort to save both himself and his father make the series more dramatic. When the time travel theme is mentioned, there is always the element of saving someone. The series doesn’t just have love and acceptance of feelings; it also has these kinds of clichés. The plot felt too familiar to me.
Building blocks like trying to change the past, plans to get rich by winning the lottery, and loving the wrong person are not very original. However, the romance and the chemistry of the characters in the series are very good.

Should You Watch the Series?
Be My Favorite actually has a very familiar structure. It has a very well-known plot regarding family bonds, love, self-discovery, and acceptance. Despite this, with the emotional development of the characters and the unexaggerated love scenes, it is a total snack. I know you will ask why the time travel theme exists. Time travel here is like “glue” used to hold the love and romance together. It doesn’t have a special feature. Just focus on the BL romance. But, 12 episodes are too many. It could have had fewer episodes and a shorter runtime.
Notably, Krist Perawat Sangpotirat, the actor from the legendary series SOTUS, changes partners this time. I would have liked to see Krist with Singto Prachaya Ruangroj in this series. For the “KristSingto” duo, you can add The Ex-Morning (2025) BL series to your watchlist.

Cast and Characters
- Kawi (Krist Perawat Sangpotirat) is an emotionally complex character who tries to fix his own past with the flow of time. Although initially seen as a hopeless romantic, as the story progresses, he grows, matures, and discovers the true direction of his feelings. Kawi’s transformation carries the theme of “self-forgiveness” and “accepting fate” at the center of the series.
- Pisaeng (Gawin Caskey) is seemingly relaxed and confident, but fragile in his inner world. His feelings for Kawi are told with a loyalty and sincerity that defies time. Pisaeng’s love goes beyond romance; he teaches Kawi to live the present, not the past.
- Pearmai (Lookjun Bhasidi Petchsutee) starts the emotional conflict of the story as Kawi’s teenage crush. However, in the later episodes, she ceases to be an “object of desire” and becomes a symbol of Kawi’s maturation process. Pearmai’s presence shows that sometimes love only finds meaning in a memory.
