The Lie We Lived In: Two People Pursuing the Truth Among Lies

South Korean BL Series

The Lie We Lived In (거짓말이 사는 집) is a South Korean BL series made in 2026. The series is full of tension with the story it offers and again with the minimalist structure of the K-BL genre. Especially romantic tension shows its effect towards the end. Again, it is a drama where characters transform, change, and are reborn especially with the healing power of love.

There is crime, thriller, a friendship full of secrets, and a slowly progressing boys’ love story. To put it this way, I think the series offers a quite nice story in a confined space, with a narration that is not very deep.

Maybe this is the South Korean BL series you are looking for. Now I will move on to some details. You can watch the series without getting bored, as the episodes are already very short. The drama is 8 episodes and each episode is 25 minutes long. Usually, K-BL stories do not offer a story worth noting, but I liked this story. The romance was also very good. Come on, now let’s move on to the details.

The Lie We Lived In Series Summary and Details, Plot

The series starts with a fight in a house. A mafia cleaner named Seo I Do enters a house to clean up the mayor’s mess because he receives orders. Heo Dong Hwa is hiding old evidence that would put the mayor in a bad position. This evidence is inside a phone. Actually, what is inside this phone is the most tense point of the series. It is the proof of past secrets, a past full of experiences.

Heo Dong Hwa is neutralized in the basement of the house by hitman Seo I Do. It was quite exciting up to this point. The intriguing and uncanny beginning replaces itself with a complex tension when Chu Tae Jeong comes home. Neither of them knows each other. Heo Dong Jin introduces himself as his victim’s older brother. Chu Tae Jeong forgets the older brother of his friend whom he hasn’t seen for a long time and believes this.

Chu Tae Jeong came to this quiet town to investigate his father’s death. His father committed suicide 10 years ago. But is this a suicide or not? Everything is in that phone. Of course, Chu Tae Jeong and Heo Dong Jin are unaware of this.

While Chu Tae Jeong continues to suspect, on the other hand, romantic approach begins between the duo. BL starts with passion, even if a bit late. Heo Dong Jin’s true purpose and connections come to light. At this point, the confusion between friends and the past is resolved.

This is where friendships are tested and the healing power of love begins. Is Heo Dong Hwa a victim or a dark person? What about love? In the series, the healing power of love shows its effect on Heo Dong Jin, who wants to quit dirty business.

Series Review and Commentary

The series comes out through tension, tested friendships, and friendships built on lies rather than mafia and crime themes. The “suicide” incident of Chu Tae Jeong’s father is very well crafted. Events slowly coming to light adds tension to the series.

It is a minimalist series. That familiar simplicity in K-BL series exists in this series as well. Heo Dong Jin is not a ruthless person. He is also backed into a corner. He has been used. The pictures he draws belong to that free world in his thoughts. Chu Tae Jeong still carries the burden of the past, the loss of his father. He will learn the lies of all his friends and his closest friend whose house he came to, and their relationship with his father’s death.

The hunter has fallen in love with his prey. A hitman who wants change finds the right path and change through love. On the other hand, Chu Tae Jeong also clarifies his father’s death. He learns who to trust. Love unites the two.

Although BL shows itself in the final episodes rather than throughout the series, it is passionate and effective. It was a good watch to step outside of a sweet-filled, idealized university and youth story from start to finish.

The drama is very simple, places are limited, but the uncanniness between friends and the tension created by lies were good. A simple series. Boys’ love is also at a watchable level, in my opinion, a good K-BL. If you want to watch it, watch it, it will be over quickly.

There is no need to write too much because it is not a complex series. Trust between Chu Tae Jeong and Heo Dong Jin gently turns into love. The chemistry between the duo is good. However, Chu Tae Jeong being quite “spineless” and “fragile” as a police officer, and not using his detective skills much, gives the image of a weak character. Again, if you are an impatient viewer and the depth of the topic, the bonds of the characters with each other do not interest you, meaning if you want pure romance, the series is not for you. If you want technical details about the series, you can look at the MDL site. Also, I added this drama among the good BL series to watch in 2026. If you ask where to watch the series: you can watch it officially via Viki.

Curator's Note

Subject integrity, mysteries slowly unfolding, a friendship within lies... In my opinion, among minimalist K-BL productions, it deserves to get a good score with its plot, the tension it contains, the pure romance at the end, and its different story.
