Broadcasted in Thailand in 2022, Love in the Air is a 13-episode romantic youth series that has secured a solid place among BL dramas. Adapted from the novel of the same name, this production will draw you in as a viewer with its passion for motorcycles, rebellious characters, irresistible attraction, and of course, a passionate love story.
The series is one of the must-adds to the watch list for viewers just starting with BL series. It is also one of the most beloved stories in the BL world. The series focuses on the love and personal development between the racing-enthusiast former architecture student and bad boy Phayu, who is still one of the coolest among the alumni, and the persistent student Rain, who accidentally enters his life.
As a viewer, you can also watch the series Don’t Say No and Wedding Plan, which share the same universe. I added this drama to my recommendation list for those who are new to the BL genre and want a high-quality Boys’ Love story. It should be on your watch list. The drama maintains its place among the best of the Thai BL genre. Viewers who love the chemistry of the “NoeulBoss” duo should not miss the series. You will also love the other story partnered by “PeatFort” as a subplot.

Love in the Air (2022) Plot and Synopsis
Phayu, the coolest and most aloof guy in the school who graduated from the architecture department, is still someone talked about in the faculty while successfully doing his own job. Participating in illegal motorcycle races and dealing with motorcycle/car repairs, Phayu is a complete “bad boy” character. Even though there has been no man who hasn’t been captivated by his charm so far, they have all eventually given up.
When Phayu rushes to the aid of Rain, who is stranded in his car on a rainy day, the spark between them starts right at that moment. For Rain, Phayu is no longer just a savior; he also becomes someone he secretly watches, tries to get to know, and starts to fall in love with. But Rain is not sure of his feelings. He even has a girlfriend. However, his interest in Phayu continues to increase day by day.
Even though the story of these two characters, who initially push and bicker with each other, carries a classic “enemies to lovers” flavor, it progresses with highly entertaining and romantic details. Although Rain’s irresponsible and messy attitudes clash with Phayu’s disciplined and harsh temperament, both of them change over time. Rain makes an effort to win Phayu’s heart, but this journey is not very easy.
According to the agreement between them, Rain will make Phayu fall in love with him. But this is harder than he thinks. On the other hand, illegal motorcycle races are also quite dangerous. All the bickering between the two is actually because Rain is a polite person who knows his responsibilities. Phayu, who hasn’t fallen in love with the men captivated by his charm before, has now found what he was looking for.
There is a second story in the series. The same contentious relationship between Rain’s friend Sky and Phayu’s friend Prapai. Because Sky was wounded by his past relationship, he is now someone who does not trust men, especially those who are cool and have good jobs. Entering a difficult relationship with Prapai, whom he met when they secretly attended the races with Rain, Sky also tries to turn a new page by overcoming the difficulties of his past relationships.

A Chronological Look
A chronological order will be good to better understand the series.
The series begins with a chance encounter on a rainy evening between university student Rain and charismatic biker (also a successful architect) Phayu. At first, Rain is affected by Phayu’s harsh demeanor but also tries to resist him. This encounter quickly turns into a game full of ego battles where they test each other. Rain will make this egoistic, yet equally cool man fall in love with him in 30 days. (This theme might seem a bit cliché).
As time progresses, the fragility behind Rain’s innocence pierces through Phayu’s hard shell. The attraction between the two goes beyond a simple flirtation and turns into the first sparks of love. Meanwhile, another parallel story begins: Sky and Prapai. Sky is a young man who has closed his heart due to the wounds he received in the past; Prapai tries to break down his walls with his patient and reassuring attitude. Prapai is someone who chases casual relationships and doesn’t have long-term commitments. But this time he has found his love. However, what they have to overcome is more than trust: the resentment and shadow of past relationships begin to challenge the couple.
In the final episodes of the series, both couples learn to face their feelings. While Rain and Phayu accept their love and decide to live it bravely, Sky and Prapai’s story ends with the healing power of compassion. The finale will show you that love is not only made up of passionate moments; but also of trust, acceptance, and commitment.
General Impression: It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Love in the Air is one of the unforgettable productions of the Thai BL genre. With both its visuality and character depth, it will definitely be one of your favorite and most memorable BL series.

Series Review and Comments
Staying away from the super-rich family environments we frequently see in Thai BL productions, the series tells a simpler and more accessible story. I believe this narrative increases the emotional communication between the series and the audience. The characters feel more “real,” straight out of life. In addition, other characters and love stories join the series in the following episodes, thus offering a multi-layered structure instead of a monotonous narrative. It’s not just a fan service series, it offers you a story. For this reason, you should watch the series.
Actually, even though the story is very ordinary, the clash of opposites, the “bad boy” character, especially the contrasting chemistry between Phayu and Rain makes the series valuable. Even if I say it’s not a fan service series, BL viewers watch dramas based on actor chemistry, you already know this. Rain is a first-year architecture student with an irresponsible, clueless, and slightly disrespectful character. Actually liking Ple, Rain suddenly falls in love with Phayu upon seeing his unique charm. Rain is a stubborn character determined to get what he wants. But the importance and seriousness he will give to his school and lessons are as important as love.
Phayu is a “bad boy” character who doesn’t have a proper relationship. The development of the character Phayu and his finding true love goes as far as putting his life in order. No one has been able to match Phayu’s desires and standards so far. But things change one rainy evening. Phayu means “hurricane, storm”. With the use of metaphors like wind and rain on a rainy evening, love becomes even more romantic. The names Phayu and Rain in the series also carry quite subtle symbolic meanings. This depth also comes from the series being a novel adaptation. Before I forget, the “enemies to lovers” theme in the series generally draws the viewer in. A slow but determined story from enmity to love.

Character Dynamics
The relationship between Rain and Phayu is like the clash of fire and water. When Phayu’s protective and dominant attitude is combined with Rain’s stubborn but pure side, it reveals scenes full of tension and romance. This chemistry and passionate love must be exactly what the BL viewer is looking for.
Sky and Prapai, on the other hand, establish a more balanced and mature relationship. Prapai’s patience mends Sky’s fragility, and their story turns into a trust-based romance. The different dynamics of these couples take the series from a one-way love story and transform it into a multi-layered structure. Thus, the series provides more emotion, love, and the romance the viewer wants to see.
Note to the viewer: You can also watch “Love Sea (2024)”, one of the legendary BL series starring Fort Thitipong Sangngey and Peat Wasuthorn Chaijindar, who play the characters Rak and Mut. You can also watch the “PeatFort” duo in the series Yesterday (2026).

The BL series, where two parallel stories are told, offers a story focusing on the love and psychological development between the cool architecture graduate, racing enthusiast charismatic biker Phayu, and the architecture student Rain, who is pure but stubborn and wants to prove himself.
