Burnout Syndrome is a Thai BL drama spanning from the end of 2025 to early 2026. One of the most beloved on-screen couples in the Boys’ Love world, “GunOff,” who possess a deeply passionate fan base, are now entering their “maturity era.” These actors, now in their 30s, are no longer portraying high school or university stories. This time, we are presented with a narrative involving a trauma-filled, cold-hearted, and wealthy businessman, an unemployed illustrator, and a compelling story of being caught between two different men.
Fans will find a slow-burn love triangle and a story of healing, rather than the passionate romance of the past. However, if your goal is to watch a drama that offers something different for Thai BL, beyond just fan admiration and “fan service,” you should definitely give this production a try.

Burnout Syndrome (2025-2026) Plot and Summary
Jira (Gun Atthaphan) is a photographer and illustrator, an artist facing severe economic hardships. While struggling to get his drawings and shots accepted by advertising agencies, he suddenly finds himself unemployed. He is both unable to find inspiration and unsuccessful in his shoots. He even tries acting in commercials, but fails again. This string of failures has left him penniless. His close friend, Ing, comes up with an interesting suggestion.
She suggests he go to “Burnout,” a cafe version of random-matching friendship sites. It is a place for healing. Seeing this intriguing venue as his last resort, Jira meets someone new there. In this cafe, the system works like this: Jira takes a table number and a drink according to his current mood; the next customer is then randomly matched with a table. The person Jira is matched with is Pheem.
Pheem is a successful individual looking for a new love. He does great work with the software developer team at the tech company where he works. The match between Pheem and Jira goes well at first impression. Over several meetings, the intimacy between the two increases.
During this time, Jira finds an interesting job. He receives a job offer from a mysterious, super-rich man named Ko Korawik (Off Jumpol Adulkittiporn). This strange man, who has past traumas and trusts no one, hires Jira. Ko Korawik is seeking someone to take his place due to his reclusive personality. He is a tech developer who avoids people. Driven by childhood traumas and a desire for revenge, he is in pursuit of buying out a major corporation. A peculiar relationship begins between Jira and this odd man, who never leaves the hotel where he resides.
Jira finds himself stuck between Pheem on one side and his employer, Ko Korawik, on the other. While Ko Korawik tries to overcome his traumas and insomnia—recovering psychologically—Jira, who must remain faithful to their agreement, has also found himself a model. Furthermore, the professional and personal connection between Pheem and Ko Korawik will create a love triangle and a sense of being trapped.

Series Review and Commentary
“GunOff” is among the most popular actors in the Thai BL world with the largest fan base. Even though they are well past their 30s, they are still adored by their fans. However, in this series, the makeup of Gun Atthaphan in the role of Jira will be distractingly intense for the audience. If you saw a photograph of the actor in his normal life, you likely wouldn’t recognize him.
The series does not offer the audience a passionate love or a university drama filled with screaming fans. Jira is a fragile, desperate, and penniless character, pushed to a level of need where he could even consider escorting. This will be a new experience for Gun as an actor. Similarly, Off Jumpol plays the role of a wealthy man who is quite harsh, lacks trust in people, is self-protective, ruthless, and soulless. However, over time, both they and the third link in this relationship, Pheem, undergo a transformation.
In addition to a classic love triangle, themes of intrigue and conflicting inner worlds are also included in the series. Although the audience will watch Pheem’s uncanny moods with curiosity, the “GunOff” duo will not provide the same acting chemistry found in Not Me (2021) or earlier BL series like Theory of Love (2019). Instead, there is a more mature progression—a cold story of love and healing. You can also check out the duo’s incredible chemistry in their series Cooking Crush (2023-2024).

What Happens in the Later Episodes?
The series takes place within a love triangle in the first episodes. The answer to the question of who Jira will choose slowly emerges. Jira will choose Ko in the later episodes. He will choose Ko, who both inspires him as an artist and buys his drawings. But things will not go well again. Actually, something that most of us would not guess will happen. I am also one of those who couldn’t guess this detail. Ko uses all the drawings made to train artificial intelligence. Actually, his approach to Jira at the very beginning is to write an artificial intelligence pattern that will create fashion and artworks like an artist. While achieving this, his relationship with Jira falls apart again.
In the later episodes, Ko decides to get over his traumas and trust people. The first person he will trust is Jira. The fact that he will leave the hotel room, which is his secret hideout where he lives like a fugitive, is very good in terms of character development. But Pheem’s fragile nature and emotionality will turn into revenge. They will settle their scores with Ko. Actually, Pheem is the lover candidate who was wronged and perhaps deserves Jira the most. I am sure he is the favorite of most of you. Again, I couldn’t figure out what Ko was doing with ridiculous old computer hardware, motherboard parts, and a soldering iron. Someone dealing with artificial intelligence and advanced technology should have had codes on huge screens in front of them; this detail bothered me. In the end, of course, Jira and Ko, the characters played by the “GunOff” duo, will be together. After all, the two of them were the stars of the series.
Series Information
The story focuses on Jira, a young artist who has lost his dream job and is experiencing burnout syndrome, and the sincere bond he forms with Pheem, whom he meets in a bar environment, followed by his entanglement in a complex love triangle with the entry of Ko into his life. By handling themes such as loneliness, creative blocks, emotional healing, and the search for true love, it will likely shock the classic “love-bug” BL viewers. Fans looking for university romance will probably criticize the series this time. However, it seems that this duo, now in their mature years, needs to play in mature stories. The soundtracks and atmosphere are quite satisfying; the dark cinematography, in particular, evokes a sense of thriller.
The series consists of 10 episodes and is a production spanning from 2025 to 2026. The author of the novel adaptation named “Burnout Syndrome” (ภาวะรักคนหมดไฟ) is JittiRain. If it weren’t for adaptations, the “Thai BL series” genre would likely be unable to produce any content. Is the series worth watching? Yes, it is.
