Until We Meet Again (2019-2020) is among the cult productions of Thai BL series. It is one of the productions that brought international recognition to the boys’ love genre. At the core of the series is Reincarnation. The dramatic events that started in 1986 come to life again in parallel with the present day. A love left unfinished in the past is reborn to be completed.
If you like the performance and chemistry of the “FlukeOhm” duo, Until We Meet Again, one of the important milestones of the BL genre, is just for you. I must also say this: the story of the series set in the past is overly dramatic. This felt a bit too much for me.
Now we will move on to the review and plot of the series in theunforgettable Thai BL drama category. Also, after this series, you should watch the 2022 spin-off Between Us, which focuses on the relationship between Win and Team. If you want to see the “FlukeOhm” partnership in other series, my recommendations: You can also watch the production 609 Bedtime Story.

Until We Meet Again (2019) Series Review
In and Korn, who fall passionately in love with each other in the 1980s, face heavy pressure from their families. Unable to find the chance to live their love, the couple tragically ends their lives by committing suicide one after the other. After 30 years have passed, their souls will meet again, this time in new bodies and in a new time.
Pharm, who has just started university and joined the cooking club, tries to cope with nightmares he cannot make sense of and fears gnawing at him inside. He is In in his previous life, but he is not aware of this yet.
Korn, who studies at the same university, is another young man carrying the traces of the past. As they get closer to each other, an inexplicable bond is first established between the two young men, and then their love is reborn. However, the tragedy experienced in the past still casts its shadows over them.
A Slightly More Detailed and Chronological Summary
Under this heading, I will summarize the series in more detail. Don’t worry, I have no intention of spoiling the surprises.
The series opens with a tragic love story from 30 years ago. (A highly dramatic scene. In my opinion, it being too “weepy” is disturbing.) Korn and Intouch are two young men who fall in love despite the pressure of society and their families. Korn’s family is a powerful mafia family and absolutely does not approve of their relationship. Suffocating under these pressures, Korn believes he cannot protect his lover. Despair drives both young men to suicide—and the story is left unfinished here. However, this death is not an end, but the beginning of a rebirth.
Years later, these two souls come into the world again: Korn as Dean; and Intouch as Pharm. Both carry the echoes of the tragedy in the past in their subconscious. Dean is the captain of the university swimming team; Pharm is a sweet, shy, and sensitive food technology student. They do not know each other yet, but the invisible bond between them has already started to work.

Pharm frequently begins to have dreams of the past—gunshots, tears, blood, and red thread motifs. (Red thread motifs represent the thread of fate. You must have seen this theme in other reincarnation-themed BL series.) During the same period, Dean feels a similar restlessness. Their paths cross in a moment that seems like a coincidence. Dean feels a familiar warmth in Pharm’s delicate manners; Pharm feels an inexplicable closeness to Dean.
Over time, Pharm’s dreams become clearer—he begins to remember the night of Korn and Intouch’s suicide in fragments. These memories create a huge emotional burden on him. Dean, on the other hand, does his best to solve these secrets and save Pharm from the pain of the past.
In the middle part of the story, Dean and Pharm begin to realize their past lives. Dean finds Korn’s diary; Pharm relives the entire tragedy through meditation and dreams. This realization becomes both an enlightenment and a breaking point.
Pharm questions “why fate tested us with so much pain.” Dean, on the other hand, understands that the mistakes of the past should not be repeated in the present. Between the two, not only a romantic but also a spiritual bond becomes evident. In the final episodes, the story turns into the story of not just a love, but the completion of two souls.

Until We Meet Again Series Review and Comments
The themes of Reincarnation, Loss, Love, and Family maintain their weight in the series. As I said at the beginning, the tragedy set in 1986 felt very “weepy” and overly dramatic to me visually. It could have been told with finer details. The series mostly focuses on the story after rebirth. Supernatural events and images from the past through dreams are not bad.
While reincarnation shows that love is not limited by time; family bonds, intergenerational guilt, and forgiveness are also hidden themes in the series. It is necessary not to focus only on an unfinished love story or how “cute” the actors are.
In the series, Korn’s grandmother is the first person to realize the reincarnation because she is In’s sister. This theme is truly the most impressive detail in the series. You will most likely love this detail too.
Visuals and Acting: Clichés of Thai BL Series
For the viewer familiar with Thai BL series, the production offers very familiar visuals. If you haven’t watched dozens of BL series and are just starting this genre, the BL stories you will watch from now on will be on almost the same themes. It is a production that has established a place in the BL world in terms of directing, acting, and technical quality. The chemistry and harmony of the actors are good. The university and youth love themes are also above standard.
It is not a monotonous production. It’s just that there are too many dramatic scenes and emotional manipulation in the series. I can also say that the period transition is weak. The atmosphere and details of 1986 are almost the same as today. Other than that, it is a watchable “cult series.” Let’s say, “Every beauty has a flaw.”

Side Stories: The Silent Love of Win and Team
It is necessary not to forget the side story in the series. The 2022 spin-off production Between Us tells this sub-story. We should not forget the silent love of Win and Team. The story of this duo can sometimes be so sincere and strong that it overshadows the main plot. Sometimes it will make you smile too.
Finally, I must say: People, cities, and cultures change, but there is only one thing that does not change, and that is love and devotion itself. Love is not about who we love or sexual orientation. Love, as a natural reaction, is beyond gender and outside of molds. ❤️
