The series begins with a murder. Inspector Singha from the Special Investigation unit encounters a very strange crime—a murder committed according to a specific ritual. At the center of this mystery, where supernatural events are involved, is Thup, who was found at the crime scene and could be a witness to the murders.
Thup shares his insights into the mystery behind this event. The murders continue. Ghosts and victims killed according to the days of the week, based on their birthdays… Meanwhile, Inspector Singha takes over the case. He takes Thup—who will be heard as a witness and represents the psychic side of the case as he sees ghosts—under his protection.
As the murders continue, ghosts and supernatural phenomena begin to appear within the team as well. Thup and Singha find a connection to a sacred shrine and go after the spirits. During this time, the ex-boyfriend King, driven by his father’s pressure and a bit of jealousy, tries to frame Thup for the crimes.
On the other hand, there is a detached and struggling relationship between Sey and Darin in the team. The influence of supernatural events causes bad things to happen to the team—could Sey be the next victim? As a viewer, even if you don’t find the ghost theme particularly convincing, you might wonder where it all leads.
So, where is the love? The passionate BL you’ve been waiting for develops between Singha and Thup. While Singha tries to prove the innocence of Thup, whom he believes has nothing to do with the murders, a romance begins between them. Sey and Darin also add a second layer of romance, forming the second step of the murder and tension theme in the drama.
BL Series Review and Commentary
I don’t know if you’re used to a mix of thriller, murder, supernatural, and BL love stories. This theme is actually quite common. Perhaps the weakest aspect of this BL drama is the ghost theme itself. Yet, this theme remains among the favorites of the genre. Naturally, the thriller elements leave an impact on the audience through dreams and ghost attacks.
The concept of seven serial murders committed according to the victims’ birthdays each day, only to start over from zero, is an acceptable theme. However, the reason for this drama’s popularity—and I hope fans don’t take offense—is partly because it was produced for fan service. Viewers who love the “PavelPooh” partnership and chemistry will definitely watch it; that’s for sure.
So, what about the acting and character dynamics? It’s not very logical to write much on this. Because almost all boys’ love dramas are filled with the same type of acting and clichés. The audience, wanting to see the duo’s love rather than the answer to where the ghosts, the temple, and the past connection will lead, will have to wait a bit for the romantic intimacy they desire. However, towards the end, the romance, tension, and cases will all reach a resolution.
The series offers a standard viewing experience. Even if I say “don’t have high expectations,” the themes and plots of Thai BL dramas are usually quite predictable anyway.
