The 2025-2026 Thai BL series Head 2 Head is a youth-themed university drama where a supernatural element significantly softens the “enemies to lovers” dynamic. Keen Suvijak Piyanopharoj, highly energetic as a sought-after face in recent BL dramas, does a good job here, much like his roles in Love You Teacher, Weirdo-101, and Only Boo!.
Without dragging it out, I will explain the viewing experience this BL theme, supernatural twist, and enemies-to-lovers transformation left on me. There will be no comments on how “sweet” or “unpleasant” the characters are.

Head 2 Head (2025-2026) Plot and Summary
I don’t want to draw out a summary of the series; summarizing feels quite unnecessary to me. At the focal point of the series are two youths who have been enemies since childhood. Both are university students. They haven’t liked each other since childhood, practically spewing hatred whenever they cross paths. Just as Jerome (J) and Jinn escalate this mutual hatred to a breaking point, they eventually get punished by their families.
Right at this point, the series starts to stray a bit from cliché molds for the audience. The “enemies to lovers” theme is one we are very used to. Having watched dozens of series, the creators probably thought there should be a difference here. While the duo stays in the same house, instead of the classic trope where communication simply turns hostility into friendship and love, they decorated this theme with supernatural elements. J sees future visions—or rather, dreams—where he is romantically involved with Jinn, getting advance notice of bad events that will happen to them.
On the other hand, there is a second story that also contains a BL element. Among their friend group at the same school, Van and Farm progress from friendship to a relationship pushing the boundaries of romance. Trust issues and indecision about truly wanting each other create a minor conflict here too, but ultimately everything is tied up nicely.
The Supernatural Theme in the Series
I mentioned at the beginning that BL series generally give the viewer the same experience. Almost all series are identical. If the “enemies to lovers” theme is mixed with a university campus, it absolutely doesn’t offer an experience different from what you’ve watched before. Here, J has a foresight whose cause is never known. These visions are about the future of the two enemies. I actually made an observation here: does a person create their own future? I see all these unexplained and illogical visions entirely as part of the fiction.
Is it more beneficial to know the future, or to listen to ourselves to change and express our feelings and ourselves in the best way? Actually, although J has liked Jinn for many years—maybe ten years since high school—he cannot express his feelings. Inevitably, the conflict between them grows. I remembered the 2022 series Bad Buddy here; in that series (also a novel adaptation), the enemies-to-lovers trope was one of the best, and on top of that, I can add SOTUS, one of the very old series, as a second.
This has been used so much that it is now worn out. Here, they added a highly idealized theme that pushes the limits of logic and might disconnect us while watching. I don’t think it looked fake at all; I know, of course, that we are generally dealing with an idealized or isolated universe when watching BLs.
Characters and Series Review
The characters in the series were not entirely one-dimensional to me. The character Jinn is quite successful with his emotional transitions. Sometimes he can be quite angry, sometimes confused. Generally, the screaming characters and girls running around screaming in BL series are absent. There is a calmer campus. The university environment doesn’t appear much in the series, or rather it doesn’t take place heavily on the university campus, which is quite measured.
The character J is a type who cannot express his feelings. This is where J’s visions and dreams are groundless, pure fantasy. Also, as I said above, one shouldn’t think logically; it requires watching by accepting it as a beautiful story.
The romance and getting-to-know-each-other process of the duo in the subplot also progress well. Up to this point, the series is easy to watch. It is funny and entertaining too. But as I said, the supernatural theme shifts into fantasy and can sometimes be disturbing because our brain will immediately question reality while watching. It might say “this is a bit ridiculous,” but I didn’t see it that way.
BL series already take place in their own isolated universes. I think it was one of the watchable university, youth, comedy, and supernatural-themed BL dramas of the 2025-2026 period. It was a good experience. I will repeat myself, but the fantasy of seeing a baseless future didn’t bother me. I am sure most people wouldn’t like it. The novel adaptation series is 12 episodes, but it should have been 8.
Long episodes do not offer a good experience. Because the plot is clear, the outcome is clear… There was no need to force the supernatural theme too much. There is quite a lot of garbage information on MDL. My experiences are just this.
