Unforgettable Thai BL series (Boys’ Love) has become a special culture with a fanbase not only in Asia but across the entire world. However, as the BL genre develops, it has frankly become overplayed and trite; university and youth series that resemble one another have become so common that watching a few Thai BL series essentially means you’ve seen the rest.
Especially with “fan service” or idolized actors, the BL genre is slowly killing itself with nonsensical productions that have zero depth, watched only for the sake of handsome men. The purpose of perhaps hundreds of drama productions in a single year is purely to satisfy the fanbase. As I said, they lack depth, they are meaningless, and sometimes they could be called “annoying” (gıcık). Just as Hollywood’s fashion has passed—think of the current state of that giant—the “water is now heating up” for BL productions as well.
In this content, I have compiled 16 Thai BL series that have reached cult status from the past to the present for you. Each has left a mark on its own era; these are the productions where you will say, “we cried with some, we laughed with others, but they all found a place in our hearts.” These series are the best of their kind. They are the first ones that come to mind when “Thai BL series” is mentioned, and my recommendation for beginners.

Unforgettable Thai BL Series: The Best for Beginners
BL productions that are not erased from memories even as time passes
There are some among Thai BL series that have changed the face of not only their era but the entire genre. These productions, which deserve the title of “Cult,” have grown the genre on both local and international scales with their sincere scripts, unforgettable couples, strong acting, and the sincere bond they established with the audience. For viewers stepping into the BL universe for the first time with these works, these series are like a nostalgic first love. So much so that some scenes or lines still circulate on social media, and some couples still rank high in “best” lists.
While preparing this list, I added the series I forgot in between at the very end as a “bonus.” There is nothing to be done for the “fanboys.” We are sorry that BL series libraries are now like a garbage dump (çöplük). This list is not just a pile of links; it is full of the most select and never-aging productions for you. I assume you are not one of those viewers who sacrifice sincere and meaningful productions for idol acting. However, the BL genre is entirely under the control of “idol” actor couples. SOTUS: The Series – พี่ว้ากตัวร้ายกับนายปีหนึ่ง (2016)
A story that you simply cannot let go of once you start. This cult university series is considered one of the milestones of the Thai BL world. When it comes to Unforgettable Thai BL Series, this university and youth-themed show is the first to come to mind.
Set in an environment where incoming engineering freshmen are forced to undergo a strict hazing system called “SOTUS,” the series is regarded as one of the building blocks of the Thai BL genre. The gradually evolving relationship between the harsh and authoritarian senior student Arthit and the stubborn freshman Kongpob, who has a strong sense of justice, offers the audience not just a love story, but also themes of obedience, resistance, transformation, and trust.
A true turning point in the BL world, SOTUS continues to maintain its impact with its character development and emotional intensity. Especially Kongpob’s line, “I want to be your girlfriend,” still holds its place in memories.

The conflicted love story of the Thai BL genre
The 2017 production “Together With Me” focuses on the feelings budding again between two old friends who face the past again during their university years. While processing the classic “first friends, then lovers” formula in the BL genre, it contains bolder scenes regarding sexuality, belonging, and suppressed emotions. While reflecting themes such as social pressure, sexual orientation discovery, and roles in a relationship, it offers the audience both an emotional and dramatic journey.

An unforgettable BL story centering university life and fragile emotions. It has a special place among Unforgettable Thai BL Series.

Here is yet another unforgettable BL university series for you. Starting with the fake dating game, it is a cult production where the characters’ harmony, chemistry, and music perfectly combine. It has already taken its rightful place among the Unforgettable Thai BL Series.
University student Tine is looking for ways to get rid of a student named Green, who is obsessively in love with him. Overwhelmed by this situation, Tine goes to Sarawat, one of the most popular students in the school, as a solution and asks him to be his “fake boyfriend.” He thinks that this way, Green’s interest will fade.
Their plans seem to work; Tine joins the music club where Sarawat is also a member, and the game of love begins between the two. However, the boundaries of this game quickly blur. Over time, Sarawat’s feelings start to become real, but the misunderstandings and rumors that emerge during this time put the relationship through a difficult test. Tine is shaken when he learns that Sarawat has a girlfriend. So, is Sarawat really dating someone else, or is everything just a mere misunderstanding?

A love story blooming among family problems, hidden relationships, and the difficulties of being gay. An absolute must-watch within the BL universe with its sub-plots.
Dark Blue Kiss presents a story centering the secret relationship of university students Pete and Kao. While Pete only explains the relationship to his father, Kao has difficulty coming out to his mother. Non, a youth who grew up without love and to whom Kao gives private lessons, triggers Pete’s jealousy and takes action to break the couple’s relationship.
The series is not limited only to this couple; it offers a second romantic line with the dynamic relationship developing between Sun, a cafe owner, and Mork, a rebellious youth. Side characters like Manow and Rain add vitality and balance to the story.

Has a story where Reincarnation and the Love of the Past are lived in new bodies. The drama handles the pressure of families on their gay children and their disconnection from life. These two young men in this painful event that took place in 1986 unite in their new bodies and identities through reincarnation. one of the best examples of the BL genre, is among the classics in university and youth productions. Especially one of the unique examples of the “GunOff” partnership. It is the classic boys’ love genre before 2020. Theory of Love was one of the important steps for the development of this genre. Especially, it allowed the BL genre to be recognized and spread. Theory of Love (2019) offers an impressive university story that tells not only love but also the emotional turmoil and the process of finding oneself. I suggest you watch it.
Make it Right (2016)
I know it got a bit long, but Make it Right (2016) is a BL series among early period classics. It wouldn’t be right without watching this. A production as important as the others. One of the first most popular productions of the Thai BL genre. One of the rare productions that ensured this genre made a blast. The series tells the story of youths drifting among adolescence, identity, friendship, and complex emotions in a sincere language. The production will take you on both an emotional and nostalgic journey. As one of the most talked-about series in BL history that opened the way for the genre, it is a series still watched and loved today.
